My summer

My summer has been pretty packed and I'm now just getting back into a rhythm of normalcy. Yep, normalcy. Nothin' but coked-up strippers, ecstasy binges, and questionable weekend benders on Fire Island from here on out. Normalcy.

But seriously...

At the beginning of the summer, I began working on this new Duncan Sheik/Kyle Jarrow musical I created. It's called "Whisper House", and it's a ghost story set in a lighthouse during WWII. We workshopped it for the first time with music in May, and it turned out much better than I anticipated. A full production will happen in April. I know if you do a google image search, you'll find photos that David Poe, a brilliant indie rocker and a performer in the workshop, took.

I then went off to shoot 10, yes 10, videos for this site in L.A. Truthfully, not all of them were winners. But a bunch turned out REALLY well, and in that bunch we shot my favorite, "Why Did I Bang That Ho?" So it was worth the trip.

I then had a weird month where I got offered two movies, and I had to play Sophie's Choice with them. I've never done a film before and I was a little nervous. Within the span of 3 days, I was offered two projects that directly conflicted with each other. I loved both, but ultimately I chose to do the "Night At The Museum" sequel in Vancouver. It turned out to be a good choice.

I can't tell you much about it, except getting a Canadian to say "Deluxe" provides maximum entertainment ("DeeeelUXE"), but I will give you stories here and there as the year progresses about my month in the "Couve". (At this point, I would like to publicly apologize to the waitress I drunkenly kissed at Joey's, the bar across the street from my hotel. I fully deserved that slap. And the drink thrown in my face. And the subsequent arrest. And the police brutality. And the jail-rape. You know what? I take that back, I'm not sorry. I've been punished enough.)

Lets see, what else did I do this summer? I did two weeks work on a new play. I went to the wedding of a dear friend. And I also discovered the brilliance that is Pinkberry.

And that was my May-August. Back in NYC and feeling guilty that I've gone 4 months without seeing the inside of my gym. Ah well, I'm black. I don't need to be built, I just need my mojo to work.

I hope it helped with that waitress at Joey's. Call me.
