So here’s what’s up…
I tell stories.
Sometimes as an actor.
Sometimes as a director.
Sometimes as a writer.
Sometimes as all three.
And sometimes just over a glass of bourbon.
I’m from West Philly (by way of Delaware). Growing up, my family stressed education, so they scraped up enough money for me to go to some pretty good private schools. Most of the time, I was the only black kid surviving in a sea of faces and backgrounds that weren’t like mine.
That juxtaposition is something I put into my work. I like to look at things from opposing angles: Rich vs. poor. Dark vs. light. Haves vs. have-nots.
Basically, I bring comedy to dramas, and drama to comedies.
Because life is messy. And so are the stories I tell.
